Ybor City: The History of Cigars in America

Numerous places around the world appear to be made for cigars, with places where some factories and roads are paved with tobacco, areas where leaves are swaying and cigars are lit continuously. One of them can be Ybor City. Now, it is an area of nightclubs and bars, Ybor City was once known as "the Cigar Capital of the World". You can also look for the Ybor city cigar shops online.

Ybor City is a historic district located in Tampa, Florida. It was named in honor of Vincent Martinez Ybor, a Spaniard who came into Cuba when he was 14. After beginning as a salesperson for cigars, Vincent Ybor eventually began to manufacture the cigars he had previously sold. He then established his own cigar company in Havana.

However, the time in Havana was a period of turmoil and period of uncertainty that was close to the outbreak of war. While war erupted, the Cuban Revolution raged, and Vincent Ybor transferred his business and his employees into Key West, Florida.

The results of the move fluctuated. Ybor's company was successful, however, transportation and labor issues prevented the real success from being clear. A close friend from Ybor, Gavino Guiterrez, convinced him to look into Tampa as a possible location to establish cigar roots. Tampa was a great climate as well as the water as well as the necessary transportation to run a successful operation.
